Joshua Tree stars

Purists might object to the front-lit rocks in this image, but I love the warm tones of the boulders contrasting with the cool tones of (most of) the sky. Photo by Wayne Pinkston in what appears to be Joshua Tree National Park, California.

I grew up in the Mojave Desert and just moved back this May, after 24 years in Colorado. Although evergreens and Aspens are spectacular, I’ve always been fascinated and awed by Joshua Trees, and JTNP is one of my favorite hangouts. Obviously, I need to spend the night!
