Mothership lightning

Photographer Vanessa Neufeld writes:

Every May for the last 3 years I have driven down to Tornado Alley to capture some amazing storms. This supercell held so much promise to drop a tornado but one small shift in the atmosphere and all that it produced was an extreme lightning show. Photo location: Broken Bow, Nebraska.

All that it produced”? Looks like the shot of a lifetime to me. I particularly like her title for the photo: “Strike Through the Mothership.”

I’ve *so* been trying to shoot a decent lightning photo, even using an ND3.0 filter for long exposures, but havn’t yet succeeded. This photo blows me away to the point of no longer trying. This cannot possibly be topped.

I don’t think it can be topped, either. But that doesn’t mean you should stop trying!

That must happened when the Klingon emissary crashed over there, Enterprise fans will know what I’m talking about, lol
