Neptune and Triton

Is it live, or is it Memorex? (Does anyone remember those commercials anymore?)

Hint: it’s Neptune and its largest moon, Triton. So either this is one of the photos taken by Voyager 2 in 1989, or…it’s a gorgeous wallpaper produced by Russian artist Vlad Gerasimov.

Gerasimov was inspired by one of those Voyager photos, and created this for the space-heads among us. The best thing about Vladstudio wallpapers is that you can download them in any size, including any mobile size. I’ve already got it on my iPad as well as my external monitor. It’s just beautiful on a big screen, which allows Triton and the stars to pop out.

I did mean to post a more earthly wallpaper this week, but when I saw this I couldn’t resist.

(Bonus for anyone who followed that Memorex link: here’s the iconic “man in the armchair” commercial, which is still one of the all time greats.)

About Fletcher DeLancey

Socialist heathen and Mac-using author of the Chronicles of Alsea, who enjoys pondering science, politics, well-honed satire (though sarcastic humor can work, too) and all things geeky.
