Hoh Rainforest

The Hoh Rainforest, on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state, USA. Makes me feel homesick for those weekend hikes on the Oregon coast, where the ferns come up to my hip and the trees put all of humanity in its proper, puny place.

  1. This looks like an enchanted forest… and reminds me so much of New Zealand.

Looks like I really need to get up to the Olympic Peninsula. Haven’t been there yet. That is a great photo.

Look at all that moss! Swoon! Do Oregonian coastal forests look like that too?

With a little less moss. But yes, due to the heavy rainfall from about October through June, the Oregon coastal forests are dripping with ferns and moss and giant trees. They’re considered temperate rain forests.
