It’s stupid hot this week, and by stupid hot I mean the kind of heat that actually reduces one’s IQ. Yesterday it didn’t cool down enough to feel comfortable until 01:00, which makes it difficult to have any kind of reasonable sleep pattern. So we’ve fallen into the Mediterranean habit of staying up waaaay late to enjoy the increase in IQ that comes with the blessed night breeze, getting up at a normal time the next morning, and then crashing into a deep siesta in the early afternoon. Live in Iberia for a while and one learns the sensibility of siestas: they’re not just a cultural artifact from a simpler time, they’re a survival technique.
At any rate, I was craving icy cold photos for today’s wallpaper, but ran into this one and was enchanted.
The wallpaper website simply calls it “Temple Caves Malaysia,” but in fact it’s the Batu Caves, just across the border from Borneo. The photographer is Trey Ratcliffe of Stuck in Customs.
