Happiness is…

…sitting on the couch all sweaty and stinky from a good bike ride, and enjoying a well-earned scoop of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream while watching the Tour de France riders get far sweatier and stinkier than me.

And what a finish! An incredible stage, with a nail-biting final five kilometers and a podium shakeup, wow. Nairo Quintana is a little hurricane! Can’t wait to see what he does in the next few years. And I bet half of Colombia was bouncing in its collective living room watching him tear off and leave Alberto Contador in his dust.

Portugal is very proud of its own Rui Costa, who won two mountain stages on this tour and led the peloton in the late chase today, giving his all in order to pull his teammates Quintana and Valverde up to the final showdown. A fantastic Tour for Rui, especially after winning the Tour de Suisse just one month ago. Give that man some Ben & Jerry’s and let him rest his legs.

And now I can finally take that shower…

Every July I wonder how many more cyclists are out there tearing up the road (if only in their own minds) than would be riding without the example of the ongoing Tour. I know I always get inspired to ride more!

Just one tiny thing, its ColOmbia, not Columbia… we’re not the city not the state, we’re the country…
