Doubtful Sound

I love the name of this place: Doubtful Sound. That’s either a great band name, or the perfect title of a book.

It’s on the South Island, New Zealand, a place that appears frequently in my fantasies about a long backpacking vacation. Photographer Ron Vink writes:

The Doubtful Sound is less well known than the Milford Sound but you shouldn’t miss it. It’s far more quiet and tranquil, fewer (if no) boats and tourist[s] and the views from the water are next to nothing.

    You’re making me homesick 🙂

  2. Oh…. I’ve been at the the same spot and took the same photo 🙂
It’s where they shove the tourists out of the bus before heading down to the boats.

We did an overnight cruise back then. There were no clouds at night and we stayed on the deck and watched the stars with an open mouth… one of my best memories ever.
