We interrupt this blog for a national election

I’m heading into my traditional quadrennial stressfest, during which I will be obsessively checking blogs, news sites, exit polls, and “reporter on the street” articles as I wait for my nation (and a few really critical states) to decide which direction to go. There’s a lot on the line in addition to the presidency, though that is of course the biggie.

I haven’t had any alcohol yet, but it’s only a matter of time. And somehow, I’m thinking a smooth port is not going to do it for me tonight. Election nights call for something rough-edged and a little bitter, so gin it will be. And I’ll be up until four in the morning, so it might take more than one or two gins. Good thing we brought a new bottle home yesterday.

Off to stress now.

I so understand…. I’m at work so I can’t drink yet, but there will be consumption this evening. It will be a cool evening tonight, so Gin is out. Single Malt 21 year old Scotch, here I come!!

Nice choice; my wife would approve. I’ve never had anything older than a 12-year Scotch, which still seems like firewater to me. Then again, firewater might be appropriate tonight, all depending.

I’m guessing you have a favourite? So why not running a constant update to us? Share your wins and losses?.. maybe not.. i’m guessing a lot of europeans are going to sleep about now and will see the results tomorrow… euh later today.

Though for the first time i know of, several universities are kept open and students (and some profs) are keeping watch throughout the night. So maybe you’re not so alone after all?

To tell the truth, I’m going to stress a little, too. With sobriety, but stress anyway.
I definitively don’t like the ideas that Mitt guy and his clique are fighting for and the bad vibes I get from them.
Let’s hope you’ll prolong the interruption tomorrow for celebration 😀 not for mourning. 😦
In both cases, I wish you a nice booze binge (murge, in French… ) and no hangover, headache or … strange worshiping. 😉

    Best of luck!

You poor dear, you have to stay up so much later than we do to find out the results. I am on pins and needles, too, hoping this country makes the right choice. I expect to be crying with either relief or grief when the winner is declared.

I will be watching shortly. Sobriety is a must, with a work day beginning in about 12 hours…

I guess y’all can go to bed now, and I hope you will sleep peacefully. I know I will. 🙂

    Congratulations 🙂
