Triglav Lake, Slovenia

Double Triglav lake, in Triglav National Park, Slovenia. Magnificent!

I don’t know if this is new, or if it’s been a common thing and I just now noticed it, but the photographer included the coordinates from which the photo was taken. This opens up a whole new world of fun!

Clicking the coordinates — 46.315311431885, 13.778572082520 — will take you to Google Maps, where you can play to your heart’s content. I loved discovering the exact point on the lakeshore where the photo was taken, and just how long that mountain range is. (Long.)

Slovenia is only about 4 mm wide on my world map, so I didn’t really have a feel for its geography. Now I do. No wonder this tiny nation produces Olympic skiers who amaze the world.
