Off to the north

We’re off to the Great White North — I mean, the north of Portugal. Many thanks to those who commented and emailed with Porto suggestions; we’ve got a lovely list to work with! (Crowdsourcing: the real strength of the Internet.) The only issue I can foresee is that we’ll need at least three stomachs each to try out all of the restaurant recommendations. We’ll do our best, though. If there’s one thing I love, it’s discovering new regional foods…and drinks! I am so looking forward to a port cellar tour.

Look for photos to appear in the coming days. That is, if we can roll ourselves out of the restaurants.

For the ‘multi-stomach’ thing, here’s one good role model, my all times favorite.

Rolling is already happening…our hosts served bacalhau with mashed potatoes and refused to let me avoid having seconds. And then there was the dessert: creamy ice cream with a crushed cookie crust on top, served with melon. Whuf.

Following you- I’ll be there end of September before hopping down to the Algarve for a week. Looking forward to some tips. I’m still planning. Hoping to go up the Duouo and stay too.
