What knockers!

Monsaraz door knockers

Old homes in Portugal often have awesome knockers. These specimens in Monsaraz were particularly fun. I still haven’t figured out what they are — dogs? Pigs? Some hybrid of the two?

(Yes, the post title is an intentional movie reference.)

About Fletcher DeLancey

Socialist heathen and Mac-using author of the Chronicles of Alsea, who enjoys pondering science, politics, well-honed satire (though sarcastic humor can work, too) and all things geeky.

    Let’s see…. Doctor. 😀
There’s something of the pig. Must be the sausage shape of the body… 😉
And the feet look like they belong to a seal :O
The nose could be a duckbill’s (platypus), right?
Though the bared teeth underneath could mislead some careful visitors…
Ears I can’t determine… nor the hole underneath.
The collar might belong to a dog. 🙂
As for the tail, it’s not askew enough to be a pig end… a seahorse, maybe?
All of them parts put together with a good ol’ lightning bolt, of course 🙂

“Why thank you, Doctor.” 😉 One of my favorite movies of all time!

    “What hump?”
And I vote dogs for those fabulous knockers.

I would say these are “weiner dogs” aka dashounds

I would say that the knockers of the movie are female and these are male, but this is just a personal impression. 😉
