Notice of intermittent blogging

Friends from my hometown are coming for their first taste (in some cases literally) of Portuguese culture, so expect intermittent blogging for the next two weeks. We’ll be touring around a bit, and of course hitting all of our favorite restaurants as we share the joys of porco preto, steamed barnacles, soft cheeses and oh so many other Portuguese delicacies. Once again I shall sacrifice myself by selflessly devouring jillions of calories, all in the name of cultural exchange and friendship. It will be difficult, but I will persevere.

About Fletcher DeLancey

    Well… I feel for you.
    ………..Really! 😉
Have a nice two-weeks gastronomic tour (or is it orgy? …culinary orgy, of course!) with your friends. 😀
Don’t forget to let a little something for the flies, each time, so that your sacrifice will benefit the greater number… :p

As one of the lucky recipients of Fletcher’s sacrifice, let me say the first day has been incredible…with the entertainment provided by the two of us who had begun our day at 0300 PDT, flown from Eugene to San Francisco to Newark to Lisbon to Faro where we arrived at 0930 local time (which had just changed to daylight time, in the “for what its worth” category) and were sleep deprived. Our gastronomic orgy…er, treats, included wonderful tapas at their home, and a wonderful dessert…oh, and carnivore’s delight at a local family restaurant. Pilates and walking are on the menu today!

I’m not sure whether I should be incredibly envious or just glad that I’m nowhere near any individual who might expect me to speak Portuguese.

  4. Don’t forget to take them to the Minho Region
