Nebraska lightning

A back porch somewhere in Nebraska. National Geographic photo editor Annie Griffiths notes:

The eerie green of the porch against the oddly purple sky gives a spooky feeling to the whole image. Photographer Jim Richardson has wisely worked with the halogen lighting that photographers usually avoid.

Eerie green is right.

  1. Sweet picture! One of the secret joys of living out on the plains. I lived in Iowa for 3 years and loved the thunderstorms there.

Cool! It makes your hair stand on end.
Is it for the eerie feeling? No, I am afraid there is another reason…

Warning: Wear rubber gloves when downloading. I didn’t and got an electric shock that has made me look like a porcupine.

When a kid in Nebr. in the Sandhills we had fabulous lightening shows that seem to go on and on, so set out on a big porch at night a just watched, so much better than T.V.
