Taj Mahal

Trey Ratcliffe took this stunning HDR photo of the Taj Mahal, combining several shots at different exposures into one perfect image. You can see more of his work, which ranges all over the world, on his blog Stuck in Customs.

An interesting note about this photo: Ratcliffe couldn’t get the angle he wanted from a tripod, so he dug a small hole in the mud at the edge of the water and settled his camera in it. Now that is artistic devotion.

Now, you’d think THAT would be the photo that would make me homesick for India, but all I can think is “OMFG, there is NO WAY I’d put my camera anywhere near that river.” I don’t want decomposed-human-body-raw-sewage-effluent-dead-animal-cremation-ashes-toxic-chemical-water-mud touching me or my equipment, even for such a beautiful photo.

You make it sound so pastoral and divine…

Sorry, it is a lovely view across the river and the garden across from the Taj Mahal is one of the 2 or 3 peaceful places I can think of in Agra, but the Yamuna River is really, really, really, REALLY filthy.
