Wallpaper Monday

droplets

This one is a bit of a departure, but it works beautifully as wallpaper — and I especially like the photographer’s use of an utterly mundane subject to create an optical illusion.

The water droplets appear to be floating in mid-air, but in fact they’re sitting on the roof of a car after a summer rainstorm. It took me a few seconds of staring to reorient my brain and actually see the metal surface. (I do love being surprised.) Extra points for the green background, which makes for a restful wallpaper.

It must be mere coincidence that I found this image on the same day that our summer drought was broken by a rainstorm. The scent of cool rain on hot calçadas — yum.

    Hi, 🙂
Well, I put this one on my desktop about half an hour ago, and since then, I’ve been wracking my brain, trying to see the metal surface… (I so do Not like being unable to understand the matter !).
And, believe me, it is not restful at all … 😉
It must have something to do with the imagination (I’m a bit lacking, there … :p)
    ….
Grrr, gonna put it in the Windows wallpapers folder…. bien fait pour eux !

Ha ! Ha ! This is one of the most yuk-yuky (Can I say that ?) odors ever !!!

Ah! So it is that shinning blur, under the droplets, eh ?
I know why it’s difficult to see it : there is no discernible delimitation in the perspective !!! Flou 🙂
