lavender farm

I have no idea where this is, but other than the possible exception of tulip or iris farms, is there anything more lovely than a lavender farm?

Click the image to embiggen…and check out this blog post for a visual tour of other lavender farms. It’s purely a coincidence that some of them are in Oregon…and did you know that Oregon has an annual Lavender Festival?

There were lavender farms just down the road from my school and Hertfordshire and oh what a lovely fragrance. Infinitely better than the smell of teenage boys who have been playing football all lunch.

Last month I was asking for smell descriptions and I got a few in recent posts. So,
the smell of cabrales cheese can kill you, or even worse
the smell of beautiful local narcissi can make you faint, indoors
the smell of boys playing football is bad, infinitely
the smell of lavender farms… yes, that is perfect (And the colors in the pictures!)
“Be careful what you ask for” I think you say that in English.

In this case you should probably be grateful that I haven’t described the distinctive smell of sweaty, 10-year-old boys after a day at school with gym, recess and afterschool playtime. I have, on occasion, driven home in 3-degree temperatures with my window rolled down.
