Though I had no desire to see “Wreck-It Ralph,” the latest animated feature out of Disney Studios, the animated short that accompanied it is utterly charming. Called “Paperman,” it’s a tiny little meet-cute story involving…paper airplanes. Oh, and people.
I love how the animation brings back the look of hand-drawn cells. It’s a style choice that works perfectly with the older era the story seems to be set in (as evidenced by the clothes and especially the hats, the woman’s need-a-corset-to-achieve-it Barbie Doll proportions, and the total lack of smartphones).
Full screen and HD is worth it!

Saw this recently and its brilliant. I love it.
I can’t help but be annoyed that the woman’s waist is only fractionally larger than her neck. OK, I know other stuff is out of proportion but this particular choice offends me.
It was almost the first thing I noticed, too. I decided to chalk it up to the “old fashioned” feel of the film and ignore it.
