Here’s a little something to brighten up your monitor…an HD time lapse in Yosemite National Park. The glimpses of fall colors are marvelous.

Ha. I re-tweeted the link to this video yesterday so my students could see what I did on my winter break. I’d been hoping for a little snowshoeing, but even without snow, Yosemite was beautiful, obviously. This time lapse confirmed one of my lingering impressions of this last visit: Yosemite is directly under the flight path to SFO. Those airplanes are really obvious in the night scenes, but even the daytime skies are full of contrails (as are my vacation photos).
Totally envious of your winter break!
Yes, I noticed the flight path too. Aperture, Lightroom and Photoshop all need a dedicated “Contrail” button on the toolbar, don’t you think?
It was truly a challenge to photograph a sky without a contrail. My two favorite contrail photos from the trip are here and here.
No, here. $%&!! HTML.
I like the one of the contrail streaking out over the ridgeline. It draws the eye, so it takes a moment to realize you’re seeing Yosemite Falls over on the left edge. Way to use annoying air pollution to your advantage!
